Sugarless Poached Pears

Ingredients:

  • 4 ripe pears

  • 2 cinnamon sticks

  • 1 star anise

  • peel of a lemon

  • 1 cup monk fruit

  • 4-6 cups water (enough to cover the pears when immersed)

  • 2/3 cup dried cherries

Here’s How:

  1. Heat 6 cups of water and when boiling, turn down to simmer and add the spices and sweetener.

  2. Peel the pears and carefully place them in the simmering broth.

  3. Cook pears for 1 hour.

  4. Remove the pears with a slotted spoon.

  5. Place dried cherries in the hot water for 5 minutes to plump.

  6. Let cool and chill in the refrigerator for 30 minutes.

  7. Drizzle with a touch of real maple syrup and a slight shake of cinnamon. Top with the plumped dried cherries.
